What is a garagiste? (gar-ah-jeest). It started out in France (of course) where it was a derogatory phrase used for those avante garde and crazy mavericks making wine in their garage outside the highly regulated system. Gradually and grudgingly came acknowledgement that something really interesting was happening with these small case lot artisan wines, and a movement was born.
We bring together the small guys. Wines produced from 100% Canadian grapes and well under 2000 cases annually.

Did you know that there is more than just Napa Valley in California producing wine? Some interesting wine regions are Paso Robles and Arroyo Seco. One of the wineries producing wines in these, and other regions in California is J.Lohr Vineyards & Wines. They will be having a tasting at Seasons in the Park on August 14. Jerry Lohr started investigating vine planted in California in the late 1960s and planted his first vines in Arroyo Seco in 1972-73.
Today, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines includes more than 900 acres of cool-climate estate vineyards in Monterey County, with an emphasis on Chardonnay, Riesling, Valdiguié and Pinot Noir, 2,000 acres in Paso Robles dedicated to Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Petite Sirah and other red varietals, and 33 acres in Napa Valley, highlighting Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc.
Here are the wines you would be tasting and the announcement by Seasons in the Park:
Three decades ago, the California Central Coast had yet to emerge as one of North America’s world-class winegrowing regions. One of an early handful of pioneers, Jerry Lohr was among the first to realize the vast, untapped potential of this now-acclaimed region with the establishment of J.Lohr Vineyards & Wines. Join us in discovering the wines from three renowned winegrowing regions – Paso Robles, Arroyo Seco and Santa Lucia Highlands & St. Helena.
